Each year, between mid-July and mid-September, more than 80% of the world's Semipalmated Sandpipers flock to the shores of Johnson's Mills, just minutes from Dorchester Village center.

All Day - Artisans, vendors & craft and snacks for sale in the Village Square and don't forget to purchase your duck for Sundays Rubber Duck Race!
Keillor House Museum and St. James Textile Museum open 10:00am to 5:00pm for tours! Costumed staff will introduce you to the Keillor House Museum, a majestic stone structure built in 1813 by John Keillor with nine fire places and a three storey circular stairs. View the popular exhibit "Hats Off to You!" Explore the history of hats including a collection from Dr George and Ruth Stanley worn during his term as NB Lieutenant Governor as well as period dress from the costume collection. The St. James Textile Museum features the Beachkirk Collection of the late 1800's production of textiles. Try your hand at carding, spinning or weaving. Enjoy an interesting exhibit of domestic, agricultural and blacksmith artifacts.
Take a Tour of Dorchester! Visit our tourism center and pick up your map and guide to exploring the history and culture of Dorchester! Tours can be taken by foot, bike or car.
8:00a.m.-10:00a.m. - Pancake & Sausage Breakfast at the historic Keillor House Museum.
9:00a.m.-7:00p.m. - People’s Choice Photo Exhibit at St. Ed’s Community Hall. View over 100 images. Vote for the photo you like most. Door Prizes for visitors. Featured Artist: Dawn Sheppard
9:00a.m. Chef Roy's Baking Contest.- Village Square/library. This year's theme is Chocolate! Drop off your entry between 9:00 am and 10:30 am at the library in a disposable container with a recipe card (including instructions). Judging will take place from 11:00 am to 11:30 am with a silent auction to follow (also at the library). Demonstrations will also be made by Chef Roy Butterworth at 10:00 and 2:00 in the Village Square.
10:00a.m.–5:00p.m. - Live Musical Entertainment in the Gazebo of the Village Square
11:00a.m.-12:30p.m. - Sandpiper Chowder Ceremony at the Bell Inn Restaurant. Invited guests arrive at the Bell Inn Restaurant. Taste testing of the Sandpiper Chowder by VIPs. Town Crier announces the results of the taste testing. Our special guest this year is Peter Coade, Maritime Meteorologist.
12:45p.m.- Official Opening Ceremonies in the Village Square, 4984 Main Street. Please join us and special guest Peter Coade for our presentations.
From noon onwards- Lion’s Canteen is open.
1:30p.m.-7:00p.m.- Sandpiper mug & Sandpiper Chowder for sale at the historic Bell Inn Restaurant, 3515 Cape Road, Cost: $12
