Atlantic Dance Festival 2008

Friday August 8th
7:00 pm Welcoming Reception and Final Registration, l’Escaouette Theatre This will be the occasion for dancers from different regions and Atlantic Provinces to meet and to have more information about the Festival.
8:00 pm Opening night, l’Escaouette Theatre The well-know contemporary dancer and choreographer, Louise Lecavalier, will present for the first time in Atlantic Provinces her solo show.
Saturday August 9th
9:00 am- 12:30pm Workshops, Downtown Moncton Dance Studios It’s an excellent opportunity to attend workshops offered by professionals who will also be performing during the Festival. A great variety of styles and level will be offered at the same time (step dance, contemporary, hip hop, etc.)
10:00am -12:30pm Performances, Moncton Market and Dieppe Market The Festival wants to attract all citizens, both young and older, to experience dancing. Therefore, free dance performances will be held by local dance groups at both markets on Saturday.
1:30pm- 5:00pm Workshops, Downtown Moncton Dance Studios A second block of workshops of different styles and levels will also be offered.
6:00pm Popular Dance with DJ, Robinson Court This free event animated dance with a DJ, welcome everyone to learn basic dance steps on summer rhythms.
8:00pm GALA show, l’Escaouette Theatre The public will have the unique occasion to see onstage professional dance artist from Canada and Atlantic provinces presenting short pieces (7 to 10 minutes) of various styles. You will see a variety of styles and dance company like: Stephanie Cadman, step dance, Yvon Soglo, b-boy Crazy Smooth and other artists to be announced shortly.
Sunday August 10th
11:00am- 12:30pm Showcase A, l’Escaouette Theatre The Festival also wants to give an important place to young talents. Dances from different dance schools of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia are invited to show their talent and diversity (step dance, belly dancing, ballet, jazz, etc.)
1:30pm- 3:00pm Showcase B, l’Escaouette Theatre More dance schools are invited to show their talent on stage.
3:00pm- 4:00pm Closing event, l’Escaouette Theatre For the closing event of the Festival, the closing speech will thanks partners; the original choreography of Yvon Soglo, Crazy Smooth, created and rehearse during the Festival by young dancers from the region will be presented; there will also be an open-mike session with the participants and the choreographer;
